Upon successful completion of the S/NVQ Level 2 in Access & Rigging. The Stage 2 Trainee Scaffolder can undertake the Access Industry Training Scheme 1 day Skills assessment or equivalent.
Upon successful completion of Access Industry Training Scheme 1 day Skills assessment, or equivalent, and having passed a CITB HS&E Test, the trainee can apply for a AICS Scaffolder card.
The AICS card will be endorsed with the scaffold materials the operative has qualified in, Tube and Fitting or specified system. The operative is now regarded as a qualified scaffolder for basic scaffold operations. Where individuals are using scaffold materials other than those in which they are trained, the operative will still be regarded as a Trainee Scaffolder and should not be permitted to work unsupervised.
AICS Scaffolder Cards are valid for a period of 5 years. In order to renew their card operatives will be required to have passed a CITB HS&E Test and undertake Continuing Professional Development in line with the AICS guidelines. Alternatively, the can complete the Access Industry Training Scheme 2 day Refresher Course, or equivalent, which may not require an additional CITB HS&E Test.
AICS Scaffolder Card holders must have undertaken a minimum of 12 months site experience as a Scaffolder before commencing the Access Industry Training Scheme Stage 3 Scaffolder course.
Upon successful completion of the Stage 3 Scaffolder Training, the operative will receive an Access Industry Training Scheme Advanced Scaffolder certificate, and can register for the S/NVQ Level 3 in Access & Rigging.
Upon successful completion of the S/NVQ Level 3 in Access & Rigging, the operative can undertake the Access Industry Training Scheme 2 day Skills assessment, or equivalent.
Upon successful completion of Access Industry Training Scheme 2 day Skills assessment or equivalent and having passed a CITB HS&E Test, the Scaffolder can apply for a AICS Scaffolder Stage 3 card, and will be regarded as a Scaffolder Stage 3.
