Cards

There are a range of cards available to Access Industry Professionals, this will include operatives, inspectors, supervisors and managers.
Full details of these cards can be found in Appendix B.

Applying for an AICS Card

All card applications are online at www.access-ics.org where all relevant documentation can be uploaded, including online payment facilities. 

All new applicants, and those adding a category or renewing an AICS Card, must have knowledge and understanding of current basic health, safety and environment information, as demonstrated by holding a CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Test pass that has been gained within the last two years.

AICS will accept some other industry recognised Health and Safety qualifications as an exemption to the CITB HS&E Test, however they must be completed within two years of the date of application:

  • Completion of Recognised Scaffolding Apprenticeship Induction
  • Current BOSIET Approved Offshore Certificate
  • Current CCNSG Safety Passport (SCATS)
  • Current CCNSG Safety Passport Supervisor (SCATS)
  • Current MIST Approved Offshore Certificate
  • Current OPITO Approved Offshore Certificate
  • FAS Safe Pass
  • OSH Directing Safely
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • IOSH Working Safely
  • NEBOSH Construction H&S Certificate
  • NEBOSH General H&S Certificate
  • NEBOSH International H&S Certificate
  • SMSTS Certificate
  • SOLAS Safety Awareness Training Programme
  • SSSTS Certificate

 If you hold an alternative Health and Safety qualification or assessment, please contact the AICS Scheme office.

When applying for AICS Supervisor and Manager Cards, only supervisory and management exemptions are accepted for the CITB HS&E Test for Managers and Professionals (MAP).

Applying for a Card Renewal

In order to renew AICS cards the holder will need to have satisfied the requirements for renewal outlined in Appendix B of the scheme rules for the level of card they hold. Renewal can be made online at www.access-ics.org.

Misplaced, Damaged or Stolen Cards

Should your card be misplaced, damaged or stolen cardholders should contact the AICS office for a replacement by calling 0300 124 0469, or by emailing [email protected] or by contacting them in writing at the address shown on the back cover.

The expiry date of any replacement card(s) will replicate that of cardholder’s original card.

Card Withdrawal

AICS cards remain the property of AICS, who reserve the right to rescind a card if it found to have been issued under false pretences.

AICS reserve the right to rescind the card of any individual who contravenes the scheme rules, or otherwise bring the scheme into disrepute.

AICS reserve the right to rescind the card of any individual who is prosecuted for health and safety breaches relevant to the access and scaffolding industry.

AICS reserve the right to undertake legal action against anyone found to be involved in the production and supply of fraudulent AICS cards.

Checking the Validity of Cards

The validity of an AICS card can be checked by calling the AICS office on 0300 124 0469 or by emailing [email protected]
To validate a card you will need to have the AICS registration number, surname, date of birth and national insurance number.

Appeals

AICS card appeals or disputes should be referred in writing to the AICS office:

Where the AICS team are unable to resolve an appeal, it will be referred to an Independent Appeals Panel for a final decision. The panel will be appointed by the AICS Management Committee.
